Nowadays,with the deterioration of environment, how to better protect the environment has aroused a heated debate among the general. As for this topic, people propose different solutions, like prohibit the use of plastic bags or building more public transports. From my perspective, planting trees and building parks are the most useful to protect the environment in community.

To begin with,planting trees can help to improve the air quality in neighborhood, thus reducing the likelihood of suffering from respiratory diseases. It's no secret that trees, as the lungs of the planet, remove carbon dioxide and other contaminants from the polluted air while breathing out oxygen in return. According to the research from China Environmental Protection Agency, each mature tree can absorb roughly 48 pounds of CO2 a year, one of the major contributing element to greenhouse effect. The tree in turn releases enough oxygen to sustain two human beings.【數據例證】That is, in a community where various trees such as evergreen and deciduous trees are grown, local residents can breathe the fresh air, while doing morning exercise and taking a walk after dinner in the parks.

In addition, trees and parks provide more habitats for wildlife, contributing to the balance of local ecosystem.Undoubtedly, with the acceleration of urbanization, the living areas left for the wild animals are decreasing in an appalling rate, which means that numerous species of animals are on the verge of extinction. Given the close interdependence between each element in the ecology, the loss of any species will definitely take a toll on the ecosystem in the community. In this sense, trees and parks in the neighborhood become the sole home for the wild animals to survive and thrive, which is the precondition of maintaining biodiversity. For example, last year Jinan Municipal Government recently initiated a program aimed to restore and renovate 20 mountain parks.
